Our water supply is treated with chlorine to kill harmful bacteria and viruses. While we definitely don't want bacteria and viruses in our water, we don't need chlorine in our shower water either! Here's what chlorine and other contaminants do to us:
- They wash away essential oils from our hair and skin making them feel rough and irritated, sometimes causing eczema, itching, hives, and rashes.
- They weaken our hair by attacking its amino acids, reducing its natural strength.
- They strip the shine and strength from our hair, causing split ends.
- They speed up skin aging as heavy metals in the water create.
